Stay connected. A very important goal of this course is to develop alliances and projects that could continue after the completion of these sessions. Between sessions there will be assignments and periodic check-ins through conference calls, blogging and emails.

Rhiannon will have two “co-pilots”, senior students of her work, who are also strong teachers in their own realms, to participate and collaborate with her and with you. They will be part of all the sessions, bringing special qualities that you will find very helpful and inspiring.

Roy Willey

Roy Willey is a musician, teacher, and song leader specializing in Circle Singing and Vocal Improvisation. As the founder of Voice Circle Colorado, a music community based on the premise that singing is everyone's birthright, his mission is to guide singers of all levels past self-judgement and fear to help them connect with their authentic voice. Roy has studied intensively with Rhiannon (ATWI 2018), Bobby McFerrin, Judi Vinar, Denis Donnelly and Siobhan Robinsong, among many others.

In addition to teaching vocal improvisation classes and leading regular Circle Singing events, Roy currently directs three choirs in the Ubuntu Choir tradition, in which all voices are welcome, and songs are taught aurally without sheet-music or scores. He performs regularly in a live-looping duo, sings with a vocal improvisation ensemble, and leads sound and voice meditation workshops online and in person in the Denver, Colorado area.  VoiceCircleColorado.com

Would I recommend ATWI? Totally. Rhiannon is a masterful teacher and has created a program that takes singers to a whole other level. ATWI demands a lot in terms of vocal skills, but also openness…  lack of ego… willingness to risk... to drop what you think you know and be awake to what is happening in the moment…. to let go of expectations of how you think things should go…. to support and be supported, to be generous and accepting of yourself and others. To really listen… to be vulnerable… to go for it!   It's a deep dive vocally and personally and whatever is happening in your life at the time may very well be part of it!  I decided to revisit ATWI in 2017 after decades of study with Rhiannon, and even then I found it pushed me in unexpected ways because of what was going on in my life.   What a great opportunity to grow, and see what happens when you bring your whole self to your singing. To stretch vocally and personally and to do that with a committed group of singers, all on the same journey together.  Rhiannon guides this process with so much wisdom and musical depth. She models the power of improvisation in her teaching, in her words, in her connection to the sacred, and especially in her  vocal artistry. She really embodies it. Even the different the locations she has chosen— each offering their own special magic. How exciting to explore the world together, making heartfelt connections with singers who will feel like your people, your tribe.  There is nothing like it, really.

All The Way In 2024
- An Invitation from Rhiannon

Rhiannon is excited to announce the 14th year of her mastery level program. We invite you to join Rhiannon for All The Way 2024. In a course taught as a series of three long sessions, a total of 21 full teaching days, 5 hours per day, held in three beautiful locations during the year. Each session location is chosen for the creative powers of the community there and the natural beauty of the place, both of which contribute mightily to our study.  We will take a deep dive into the treasure of vocal improvisation. The place, the songs, the invention of each day, the need to be flexible and trusting, the circle of singers, the meeting and parting during the year with time in between to integrate and study - all of this contributes to life-changing musical growth. You can count on it.

This course is for 16 to 20 advanced singers with a deep and daily commitment to their voices, musical lives and to building community with song. Students must be committed to the whole series. Singers will be able to develop strong relationships with one another and with Rhiannon, as well as having the assurance that each session will reach further into the skills and spirit of improvisation. Admission is by permission from Rhiannon.
