This five-day masterclass is for 20 skillful improvisers and teachers with strong, committed vocal lives. Acceptance into this workshop is based on Rhiannon’s approval. If Rhiannon is very familiar with your vocal work from past study with her, she may be able to admit you without the MP3 audition. If she is not familiar with your vocal work or it has been a long time, we will ask you to submit an MP3 audition. This is the only residential workshop Rhiannon is offering in Europe this summer .

Rhiannon invites you to a vocal gathering near the North Sea beaches and dunes of the Netherlands. We will live together for five days sharing music, meals and friendship at the Zeeveld Retreat Center. We will gather in the beautiful music room, bell garden or in the summer gardens. Rhiannon will not be able to spend as much time in Europe as she sometimes can, but we were able to fit this lovely 5 day experience into her schedule in 2015. This is the only residential workshop Rhiannon is offering in Europe this summer - a unique opportunity! All lodging and meals included.
Rhiannon will deepen your improvisational vocabulary and practice using poly-rhythm, harmony, physical movement, solo work, small ensemble exercises and group collaborations from her recent book, Vocal River: The Skill and Spirit of Improvisation. Singers will work with the exercises in various configurations, receive and give feedback and begin to integrate the influence of these exercises, including practicing how each might teach or use them. We will also study song form, singing over changes and interpreting lyrics as we examine the connections of those forms to Vocal River Exercises. The intention is to work hand in hand to develop musical skill and intuitive wisdom. Zeeveld is a wondrous small retreat center located a short bike ride to the ocean..The strong presence of nature make this a perfect location to begin our journey together.

About Zeeveld
Zeeveld is a beautiful retreat center within biking distance to the North Sea beaches and dunes, and also very near Amsterdam, Haarlem and Alkmaar. Enjoy the Orangery with old church bells and stained glass window, or the spacious garden with natural pond! Just take one step and you'll find yourself in one of the largest national parks in the Netherlands, with extensive dunes, cycling and hiking trails, beaches and woodlands. This centuries-old farm has a modern annex, 13 bedrooms and 5 lounges. All accommodations provide every comfort you will need during your stay. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and beverages/snacks are included.
My personal favorite, I have had the privilege of studying, working, and performing with her on several occasions over the last fifteen or so years as her teaching skills have deepened and refined. By now her ability to de-mystify the mysterious worlds of improvisation and of healing is second to none.
