Below is an ever-growing, ever-changing list of my musical companions, inspirations and colleagues. The community of us all is the hope of the future. Call on us! MUSICIANS Bobby McFerrin: singer/composer extraordinaire and founder of Voicestra, 12 singer a cappella group doing totally improvised concerts. We will be on tour with Bobby in the US during spring of 2007. David Worm: amazing percussion singer/improviser and my long time music partner in Voicestra and WeBe3. Gary Malkin: producer, pianist, singer who has generously opened doors in the healing/hospice/music world with his beautiful Graceful Passages cd package. He has just released a new one called The Heart of Healing Jami Sieber: unique electric/acoustic cellist and singer with whom I love to collaborate. Check out her recent cd Hidden Sky dedicated to the Thai elephants Joey Blake: wow bass singer/improviser and another long time music partner in Voicestra & the other member of WeBe3, now teaching at Berklee School of Music in Boston. Karen Hunter: innovative singer, guitarist living in Auckland, New Zealand who I love to collaborate with when I am down there. Her website is very styling and constantly changing as is she. Kate Munger & Threshold Choir: created these choirs to sing in hospice situations and started a movement for singers to imagine where we might want to sing in the world. She and I both live in little Point Reyes near San Francisco. She is a force of nature. Laurel Murphy: Vancouver treasure of song and improvisation, also doing wonderful sound healing work at Callanish Institute www.callanish.org. Amazing humor, great teacher and vocal chops. Linda Tillery: long time friend and Bay Area singing treasure and her group singing and teaching cultural, historical African American songs and bringing vibrant life around to the world stages. Ruth Cunningham: former member of Anonymous 4, composing improvisationally for sound healing and ceremonial situations. Great voice and spirit.
Silvia Nakkach: founder of Vox Mundi which teaches the study of various vocal traditions and the connections to healing, ceremony and bliss.
OTHER ARTISTS Catherine Bacon: amazing clothing designer whose creations I have worn on stage for 8 years. Colleen Kelley: painter and ceremonialist whose large canvas creatures are breathtaking and lifechanging. Deena Metzger: briliiant spiritual/political writer and teacher from Topanga Canyon. Jan E. Watson: my partner and photographer for 17 years who collaborated on an groundbreaking fine art book about Aikido, Some Call It Dancing and current projects related to nature, culture and women. Ruth Zaporah: creator of the trailblazing movement form called Action Theater and long time collaborator and dear friend now living in Santa Fe.
ORGANIZATIONS CD Baby: great distributor for independent projects and whose isn't these days? Check them out and look for me there. Code Pink: these women are living on the edge of political/spiritual/womanly/worldly life. i will join them at their summer retreat in Austin, Tx in August. Planning, imagining how art and music change the world. Hollyhock Institute: Cortes Island in BC Canada is the home of this exquisite retreat center with organic everything, great art and social change workshops and the sea herself. KWMR - FM Radio: West Marin Community Radio in my little coastal town of Point Reyes, Ca where I do a music show first Monday of every month called The Bigger Picture, playing jazz, world music and whatever strikes me as special. You can hear me streaming on the web anywhere in the world. The JazzSchool: provocative and community strong school of music in downtown Berkeley, Ca dreamed up and held in the heart and mind of Susan Muscarella. The jazz school on the other coast. Great teachers and wonderful concerts.
